Attending the Indianapolis 500 is something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. It is among the sporting events that one needn't be a sports fan to appreciate. Simply being there is a sensory overload. Of course, the race itself is loud and electrifying. But what captivates even more than the burning rubber and octane are the wide varieties of people who gather in and around the giant ring of asphalt.
Demographics range from diehard race fans and families to those just there to be the life of the party. Yet, the most noticeable commonality at the 500 is red, white, and blue worn in every conceivable way. And more than the occasional instance of public intoxication.
